Personal branding is a big buzzword at the moment and can seem a bit scary, like a lot of effort and a waste of time. Having a personal brand will help you accelerate your career, put you in front of more opportunities and even set you up to start your own business in the future (even if it's just a dream right now).
About Charlie
Charlie is a tech-obsessed Business Development Strategist and LinkedIn Trainer and accidentally created a personal brand 8 years ago (she only found out what a personal brand was just over a year ago...) Because of this accidental personal brand, Charlie managed to progress from a Marketing Assistant in an industry she knew nothing about to the Global Head of Sales and Marketing in less than 3 years, land a job as the Head of Marketing despite having no marketing qualifications and then go on to launch her own business in August 2018.
Charlie now works with innovative tech companies around the world to leverage the power of LinkedIn for business growth as well as supporting them with their overall messaging and business development strategy. She's also a volunteer Business Mentor for TechManchester and sits on the Advisory Board for a new tech start up that's on a mission to combat climate change.
As it’s our last event at Accelerate Places before we move permanently to Antenna in May, we’ll be running a retrospective of Women in Tech in the second half - this is your chance to tell us what you like about the event, and any improvements that you’d like to see going forward.

An Agile Retrospective
The retrospective is one of the most important elements of any Agile development process, it is a mechanism for celebrating successes, acknowledging failures and then improving and optimising.
We will demonstrate the power of the retrospective by running a retro session on WiT Notts as an event.
As an outcome we'll all get to experience and participate in the retrospective session and we'll all get to work together to make WiT Notts a better event for all.

This month at WiT we’ll be giving away a copy of Caroline Criado Perez’s new book Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men. Emma is about a quarter of the way through her copy and can confirm that it is excellent, and makes for some sobering reading.
