Women In Tech January 2018
Happy New Year! Here's to a fantastic 2018 for us all! Kicking off the New Year we have two fantastic talks from local speakers: Gosia will be talking to us about Cognitive Services and Rebecca will be telling us about the Double Glass-Ceiling - her experiences of being a gay woman in tech.
As always, there'll be free drinks and food for all thanks to our fantastic sponsors Esendex and JH. Everyone is welcome and there are no tickets required. Just turn up - it's free!
Cognitive Services
Our business applications have started to be more and more intelligent, and we can use a lot of data that we never had a chance to use before. To do that we can easily use APIs provided by Microsoft Cognitive Services. There are about 30 APIs that are really clever and can provide object recognition, face detection and identification, emotion recognition, computer vision, video services, speech and speaker recognition, language understanding, text analytics, sentiment analysis, knowledge exploration, search services, and more.
If you want to add more intelligent features to your applications, come to this session to understand more about what Cognitive Services are and get ideas about how you can use them in your business today.
About Gosia
Gosia works as a full stack .NET developer. While searching for her path, she has been working as a network administrator and IT systems supervisor according to Prince2 and ITIL methodologies. Currently, she loves programming and looking for news related to it, to which she devotes most of her time. While she started work with Office 365 and SharePoint she found an opportunity to add more fun to existing business apps using the newest technology provided by Microsoft. After work, she teaches kids programming and co-organizes local meetup NottsDevWorkshop.co.uk
The Double Glass-Ceiling
Being a woman in tech has its challenges, being a gay woman brings even more. Rebecca will talk through her journey of her career in tech to date, as someone ticking these 2 diversity boxes
About Rebecca
Rebecca works as a Magento certified Ecommerce Solutions Specialist at local digital agency JH. She runs an eCommerce & Magento focused YouTube channel in her spare time. Her natural habitat is anywhere that’s social, so she can always be found actively engaging with and influencing the eCommerce community.
