Proper Preparation Prevents P*ss Poor Performance

The most important thing you can do when embarking on a job search is to prepare. This comes in many different forms, and will help you at all stages of the process, even before you actually start looking. This talk, hopefully, will give a good starting point and high-level checklist to make sure you get the job you want in the smoothest way possible, and is intended for anyone who might be looking for a job at any point and feels overwhelmed or intimidated.
Looking for a job while looking after yourself

Job hunting in tech is not an easy task, let alone when you're living through a pandemic, stressed and burned out. In this short talk I'll go over what worked for me during my last job search, and how I managed to find a job despite having little time and energy to spare.
A Different Kind of Recruitment

Traditional recruitment processes can be a minefield for jobseeker and employer alike. They often result in an unhealthy power imbalance, making it difficult for candidates to bring their best selves to the process. This talk will share the impact that inclusive hiring practises can have in reducing unconscious bias and opening up roles to diverse candidates.

Tech recruiter at Rebel Recruiters; Mica specialises in the East Mids’ Developer market. Co-organiser of DevOps Notts and Agile Engineering Podcast Host, tech community enthusiast. She has worked with tech companies and candidates of all shapes and sizes for 10 years.
Carol Gilabert
Carol is a Director of Tech Nottingham and a Web Engineer at Monzo. She cares about community, the web, and her dog Juno 🖤.
Rania Nur
Rania is a Product Manager at William Joseph, developing digital products and services that achieve positive change. She is a Trustee at the Museum of the Home and on the board of Collaborative Future.
