Nott Tuesday is a community of people building and growing the startups and tech businesses of Nottingham.
Each month we come together to hear stimulating speakers give talks on the challenges of starting and running a technology business, practical guidance on operating a business and exploring future technologies for new opportunities.
Most of all Nott Tuesday is an opportunity for business people and aspiring entrepreneurs to come together, meet like-minded people, share knowledge and grow.

GDPR - How ready are YOU?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force in May 2018, replacing the Data Protection Act (1998) in the UK.
The scope is much wider, the fines are much greater, and the threat of legal action is much higher.
Andy will guide you through the main changes, discuss the key affected business areas, and suggest common approaches for addressing them.
By the end of the session, you should be clear on why it's important, have a general idea of your own compliance, and take-away some concrete actions to apply to your own business.
This session will include a talk and a practical.
About Andy
Andy is a seasoned software developer and designer, with a diverse portfolio ranging from large corporates to startups.
He formed part of a response team for a major security breach 2 years ago, and has since then nurtured a passion for Data Protection and Data Security in his day-to-day work.
Training now as a GDPR practitioner, he advises small businesses on data protection and security, with particular emphasis on GDPR compliance, ahead of the May 2018 enforcement date and beyond.
