Solar-Powered Wifi, A Solution for Africa
by Allan Okello
In 2014 Nottingham-based entrepreneur Allan Okello noticed how bad and massively expensive internet access was in Africa, so knowing nothing about telecoms he naturally decided to do something about it!
Using custom-built hardware, Allan's company Plexus Wifi (@plexuswifi) is now rolling out an entirely solar powered pay as you go internet service in Africa, overcoming challenges in frequent power cuts, fibre cuts, infrastructure issues and of course funding.
Allan will be taking us through his young company's journey so far and then we'll be pitching in and putting his company's new hardware through its paces.
